@Edmund: Good reminder. Yeah, the Kingdom of God can also be discovered, but I guess its main emphasis is more on its incomparable value, rather than our action to find it.

@ Leo: In Numbers 15:22-31, God has given instructions regarding how to offer sacrifices for unintentional sins. So in some sense, ignorance doesn't make a person exempt from the responsibility. As far as ignorance in terms of knowledge and understanding, all of us are called to search and study the Scriptures, and ask for wisdom and understanding from God. No one is exempt from that, because we are called to love God with all of our being, including our minds. That's why "sloth" or "laziness" or "carelessness" or what is called a "spiritual or actual apathy, putting off what God asks you to do, or not doing it or anything at all", has been traditionally been included as one of the seven deadly sins. Let us not to ignorant, but seek to study and understand the Scriptures as best as we can.

@Samuel: Yeah, you are right. I am just taking Systematic C and listening to the part on ecclesiology, and learned about the classic medieval mistake of equating the Church with the Kingdom of God. My question then is, how come some pastors hold such views? Didn't they also study ecclesiology and learned about its historical fallacies and how best to define these basic terms (i.e. what is chuch? what is the K of G?)? I thought these are just fundamental stuff in theology. Was theological education a couple decades ago really that screwed up?

Right on, Anson!
Too bad that many in our churches even put a equal mark (=) between church(es) and the Kingdom. A friend of mine often said with sigh that we are building the "kingdom of the church" instead of the Kingdom of God.
「我們不阻著神做事，可能已經算是幫了一個大忙。」ha ha ha...

This is why I always wonder, is ignorance a sin? It may not always lead us to other sinful natures, but I think it definitely has the potential to do so.

The K of G is to be discovered, as Jesus pointed out in the 2 short parables found in Matthew 13.44-46.
