Ten principles for good design by Braun’s industrial designer Dieter Rams:
- Good design is innovative.
- Good design makes a product useful.
- Good design is aesthetic.
- Good design makes a product understandable.
- Good design is unobtrusive.
- Good design is honest.
- Good design has longevity.
- Good design is consequent down to the last detail.
- Good design is environmentally friendly.
- Good design is as little design as possible.
It is surprising that all of these principles still make sense if we understand humanity as the pinnacle of God’s design. I think they resonate with the bible on how we humans should be.
It is because God’s design is good design. Indeed, tov meod (very good) design.
